Sage… an addons for Firefox. Some of you might have heard it, and some of you don’t. Some of you have test it out, while others have not. I have used it for 2 months, but now, not any more (cause I’ve found a better RSS reader).

What Sage does is that it takes care of your RSS Feed. It is very lightweight,
as like it was mentioned at Sage.mozdev.org.
Sage handles RSS (2.0, 1.0, 0.9x) and Atom feeds. Then it will display your reads
in a newspaper style interface, which you can customizable via style sheets.
But not only that, it also able to imports and exports OPML feed lists. Sage comes
in many different language support, which is Argentine Spanish, Catalan, Chinese,
Czech, Danish, Dutch, Finnish, French, German, Greek, Hungarian, Italian, Japanese,
Korean, Polish, Portuguese, Russian, Serbian, Slovenian, Spanish, and Swedish.
Although there’s lots of good in Sage, let me clear out on why I’ve decided to
uninstall it.
- You need to run FireFox (can’t be help cause IT IS a Firefox addons).
- Even when FireFox is running, there’s no notifications or sort to tell you if your Feeds have new updates.
- It uses the sidebar to display the list. For my case, it really irritates when it caused the current website to have a horizontal scrollbar at the bottom. Vertical scrollbar is common but a vertical and horizontal scrollbar together, that is unforgivable.
Just these minor dislikes, nothing more. I’m really concern about the notifications
method, as there is none. It is really a drag to run Firefox, then enable Sage
sidebar just to see if there’s any updates (or not), then close the sidebar, and
finally begin browsing the net.
Anyway, I just hope I did not discourage you on using Sage.
If I have, then here’s some encouragement.
Sage was picked as one of the best Firefox addons for 2007 at CNet.Com.
Can you dig that? |
