There are many Japanese web Translator on the internet, but 80% of them sucks. It’s rare to see a translator that can precisely translate a language into another language (vice-verse).

For a person whom self-trained and not the other way around, I often like to learn something new, especially Japanese Languages.

That is when a certain Firefox called Perapera-Kun add-on plays a part.
What is Perapera-Kun?
Pop-up Japanese Translator. The addon is a modification of Rikaichan and uses the EDICT dictionary. What Perapera-kun does is that it allows you to read the pronunciation and it’s English meaning when you place your mouse over the characters.
To know more about this plugin, you can either check out it’s official website at Perapera.wordpress.com, or you could just head to the addons page to download it. But wait, that’s not all! In order for Perapera-Kun to be functioning, you need to install 1 more addon for it to work.

Head down to PolarCloud.Com and click on Japanese » Rikaichan 1.01 » Download

When you are inside the download page, scroll down till a section called “The word dictionary v1.06″.
Pick one, download, install and restart your browser.

To test it out, head down to Yahoo! Japan or any Japanese site. Hit Alt+INSERT (default hotkey) on the keyboard and try mouse over on any of the Japanese character. Note: You can change the hotkey through the option menu.
